Of Porn Spammers and site updates Articles / General Rants About Stupid Things Date: Feb 26, 2007 - 10:21 PM So, any of you who occasionally pop in to see if I have updated in the last several months may have noticed the increase in spam comments. To that end, I have closed the hole that allowed the comments, but this particular CMS version has some pretty deep security holes, and there is no smooth upgrade path to a newer, more secure version, so I'm getting about 6 new spam accounts registering every day. I keep deleting them as they pop up, but it's a major pain in the ass. So, I'm probably going to just nuke the whole thing, and setup a new site using a (hopefully) more secure site that these jackasses haven't cracked yet. So, if you'll cast your gaze on over to the right, you'll see a brand new poll. Go ahead and vote. Or not. I'll probably do it no matter what at some point, since I'd like to setup a second CMS instance as well, for more professional pursuits. Let me know what you think.
